779: An AirPods Launcher

I could have sworn @MacSparky said in the episode that WhisperMemos provided on-device processing on the phone, but I’m not seeing that as the case on their website. Is there a good on-device app for iPhone that improves dictation workflow?

I’ve just been trying both superwhipser and MacWhisper off the basis of this episode. I’ve found MacWhipser to be the better option by far for dictation, which seems surprising considering Super Whisper seems to lean into this heavily. Superwhisper appeared to be no better than the inbuilt dictation on macOS, where macwhisper had an almost 100% success rate when I was writing.

This was comparing the Pro Whisper download on Superwhisper agains the free version of macWhispers standard model. I turned off the ChatGPT upload for Superwhisper as well to see if that made a difference but it didn’t seem to.

Annoyingly, macwhisper outputs everything in US English spelling, so when I’m talking about pressurisation, I get getting Z’s, not S’s!

This is me and any podcast. One in particular is The Motley Fool Friday podcast. I’ll miss the name
of company at the beginning , and they only say it once. So all of the various performance metrics they talk about later have no context.

“This app is great”
“You should get this app”
“It’s on sale.”
“This is essential.”

Me: “What app are you talking about ?”
