Seconding what you’re saying here. A Synology is overkill for most people, I think, when DAS will do just fine. I have a Synology and it is a minor regret for me. I also bought a Mac Mini with its own DAS just to connect to the Synology, copy its archives, and back them all up to Backblaze. I think I would have been fine with just the Mac Mini.
