That’s good. I was just asking more out of curiosity than a need to do it.
Has there been any clarification on this issue. I don’t have strong feelings on either side of the issue, but I would like to know what is okay and what isn’t.

“They” are not the admins. This is part of the software. “They” are the Discourse developers. It is a good feature that has kept this community clean for years. Otherwise, this would be a spam pit. And no, I am not talking about developers promoting their apps or answering questions.
The difference to the past is that Katie, Rosemary, and Mike are gone or not active any longer. I have flagged posts in the past, too (not in recent weeks and maybe a handful in 8 years). When Mike still was active, it only took a few hours or a day, and he took action. He monitored flagged posts and dealt with them, and I got a feeling for what is considered okay and what not (he provided feedback, which was very nice). And this seems to be missing these days.
If a user goes crazy flagging “normal” posts, he/she should receive feedback in order to get back on track. As long as this is not being done, this will not change anytime soon.
This community generally is awesome when it comes down to keep it clean and friendly. But without any moderation, the community simply reaches its limits.

yes i didn’t mean they made this specifically for this, i meant since it exists, it’s clear either noone is checking or they do and just are happy with the flagging mechanism. The absence of any comment from them is telling.
I do think the flag is overabused but as an indie dev i decided it’s not worth it to talk about any of my apps here. There are a few users that will just flag anything.

That’s as much of a problem as drive-by spammers in terms of maintaining and creating a living community.
