I’m hopeless!
Despite all the good advice, in the last week I have replaced some perfectly adequate apps with new ones, on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
I have started using Noto (paid for the Pro version) for note taking. Unibox (paid) for my email. And, Microsoft Edge (the new Chromium engine based version) as my browser.
They all have a nice modern aesthetic about them, but did I need them. NO I DID NOT!
I have rationalised the purchases, mainly because they look nice, but there are a few advantages to each - I tell myself. 
Unibox was reviewed by Rosemary Orchard on ScreenCastsOnline, and she gave it big thumbs up! The new version of Edge appears to have all the advantages of full Google Chrome compatibility, including all the extensions, but with better privacy settings that are easier to see and set. It also imports all your browser settings, if you want. Noto? Well I just like the UI and look of the app.
