My girlfriend uses a protector on her watch. The Otterbox that Apple sells (or at least used to - it’s been a couple years since we bought it). Works great.
The cheaper ones on Amazon, despite what they were claiming, didn’t fit properly and wouldn’t conduct the finger taps through to the screen.
