Create a new separate contact list

I have the contact list from my late father’s iPhone and I’d like to export his contacts and open them in the Contacts app on MacOS. I have not found a way to do this without merging them with my own contacts. I was hoping that I could do something similar to creating a new Photo database by holding the option key when I opened the app but no luck.

I could create a new user account I suppose, but I was wondering if any of the folks here at MPU had any ideas.

Assuming your contacts are in a cloud account (iCloud, Google, etc.), could you import your father’s contacts into “On My Mac”?

If they’re in a cloud account, you could just add the cloud account and wouldn’t need to do any importing.
