David and Stephen look like

Hi everyone!
I could see before, and therefore wonder how hosts of Mac power users look like. I asked few months ago my friend about how Myke Hurley looks like, and I got answer: like hipster.

So I hope community of mpu will give me some idea of how mpu hosts look like.

Hereā€™s a nice image of them together on the MPU page (shownote for #472)

Maybe I interpret this wrong, but my impression was that RDK unfortunately has lost sight and is asking us to describe the hosts in terms of people (s)he has seen when (s)he still had sight.

Iā€™m not sure what a good description would be. Anyone else?

You are right, Yes, Iā€™m blind

I maybe was not clear enough in my post, unfortunately Iā€™m blind but could see before

Ahā€¦ I totally misunderstood the message thenā€¦
And, thats incredibly insensitive and stupid of me

What might be a solution, which Iā€™ve been working on with my mother, who also has lost her sight is look at the microsoft ā€œSeeing AIā€ and have that detail the picture I mentioned

Mine said:

Thereā€™s two people behind microphones in the picture having fun. One is about 50 with brown hair and glasses. The other one is about 33 (@my comment: which is fairly specific (@ismh is it in the right area?)) With glasses, brown hair and a beard.

Sidenote:

Iā€™ve found Appleā€™s implementation of the accessibility features robust when you have sight or are fiarly computer savy. Being neither puts my mother at a distinct disadvantage.

I can usually work with her to get out of her iphone and iPad what she needs, but each OS update sends her into a panic. What if thisā€¦? What if thatā€¦?

Example from the iOS 14 update:

She used to be able to answer a phone call from the speaker by pressing the top of the bright blob on the screen. Now she must aim for the dead centre of that amorphous blob she canā€™t quite make out, or sheā€™s answering the call on the iPad in the next room. (Handoff now shows up)

Any change in interface, options, image colour or sound makes the world a terrifying place for her. I understand us worrying about automation options, scripting and the like. But sometimes we forget the environment we like is the only one a lot of people have to interact to their world with.

I totally understand her. I personally hope that new macOS will not bring a lot of bugs to accessibility and system in general.

Btw, if she uses VoiceOver, she can double tap with to fingers on the screen (does not matter where) to answer a call.

Can she also double tap to answer the call in speaker mode? Thatā€™s the problem here.
She can still see the swipe area a little, so swipes to answer, but she would like to switch the sound to speaker at that point. And that is what has changed

Can it help to turn on speaker mode automatically? In VO settings - Audio ā€˜Automatically switch to the speakers during audio calls when you are not holding the iPhone to your earā€™.
It works both ways, so if you holding phone to ear, it will switch back to default mode.

You are an absolute genius!!! Iā€™ve never heard of that setting!

Thank you!

would that work without enabling any of the other voiceover items? So just the ā€œauto switch to speakersā€?

Unfortunately I have no idea. Maybe look in other accessibility categories for same feature?
