For some reason I started to see a lock on the desktop folder icon and since then I have some issues with drag and drop etc. I am on the latest Golden Gate and yes I am aware there may be issues with the beta. Just checking if I can solve this issue somehow. I have tried the get info dialogue and it doesnt even show the user permissions section. I have also started in safe mode and ran all the disk first aids. Anything else I could try.
Disclaimer: I am not running the Beta, so I am not able to check it in Golden Gate.
Several things to be done here:

Report the bug to Apple using Feedback Assistant so that this can be resolved in future releases.

Folders can be locked and unlocked in macOS using the GUI. To unlock a folder in macOS, right-click the folder, select “Get Info,” and uncheck the “Locked” option. If this is not working for some reason…

Unlocking folders can be done in the Terminal: type
sudo chflags -R nouchgfollowed by a space and then drop the Desktop folder from the Finder into the Terminal in order to copy the folder’s path into the prompt. PressEnterto execute the prompt. You probably will have to enter your password.
If this is not working either, maybe someone else has an idea.
My next step would be:
- Revert to a backup that is not affected by this issue.

In case someone is having a problem with their desktop that is different from the one in this post, I include the fix that helped me when my desktop on my M4 Mac mini became unresponsive.

I have resolved this issue as my new MacBook Pro M3, was set not to “show items” on desktop in “Desktop & Dock” settings. When checking this option, the control click and right click was restored.
