I don’t think so. What hiccups are you seeing?
I’m getting a number of repetitions of the annotation file (strangely in the inbox rather than the correct database folder), and a warning about “type numbers” in the log - see below.
Interesting - I had the exact same problem - dozens of identical items showing up in the inbox. I solved it by changing the smart rule to the following:
Oh thanks! I’ll give it a go
That was gonna be my guess, but I haven’t had the chance to double check yet. Thanks!
What was different from the downloaded Smart Rule? I’ll fix it on the website.
Hmmm. It looks like the only apparent difference from what I had is the adding of the “Processed” tag - is that the main change you made?
Yes, I think that smart rule came with the system. Apparently like you, it just recently started generating duplicates in the inbox - I’d go to delete them and they’d start repopulating again. So I altered the rule to place the tag on in the action phase and look for the tag in the triggering phase - that solved the problem for me. But I’ld sure like to know what started this weirdness all of a sudden.
oops, just noticed some posts that hadn’t shown up in my RSS reader - apparently this wasn’t something that came with Devonthink. Will wait to see what @ryanjamurphy has to say
I see the same behaviour and have done some debugging.
Some kind of bug — or at least, a breaking change for this script — with DEVONthink’s AppleScript was introduced in a recent update.
The script will need to be changed (or a new update to DEVONthink will need to be released). I’ll work with the DEVONthink people to figure this out. Thanks for the report!
Edit: Update — it might be macOS 12.5. Will keep you in the loop!

Looks like a recent release of DEVONthink introduced a bug in the app’s AppleEvent code. An upcoming build will fix the error. I’ll let you know if you need to do anything with the scripts at that time!
Excellent Ryan - thanks so much.
Does the mac have to be open (Aka with amphetamine set to on) for this to work, or will it still work when I “lock” my account.
Specifically I have a family iMac that is always on, so while I can’t “leave it on and open wi to devonthink” 24/7, I could log in to my account and let devonthink open and “lock” the account so others can use. (I’m not sure if an iMac even allows this type of background process).
Does it still work if the machine is on just locked? Wondering if installing DT on family computer that is always on would work if my account is locked while others use it.
Hmmm. I think so….? I believe I’ve had updates roll through without my main machine being unlocked.
Good question, not sure. I’ll test when the aforementioned bug is fixed in the next DEVONthink build.
Thanks. appreciate it. This as well as automatic smart rules would probably make it worthwhile to install. If not and only runs when unlocked not sure it’s worth the complexity and additional area to access the database for stability of database standpoint.
FYI, seems fixed for me on the beta.
Thanks I actually bit the bullet and have it running. Locked screen but with it set to not sleep when screen dim and I am getting relatively quick updates and working well.
