Discovered Great Work Background Music

Thank you for sharing. Maybe you’d enjoy Doom or dark jazz. Bands like Bohren and Der Club of Gore. Don’t let the name fool you. It’s easy listening jazzy music.

Yes, ambient music does the trick. Stuff from Brian Eno, Stars of the Lid or Bing and Ruth.

When grading papers, I also enjoy listening to ambient techno produced by the likes of GAS. It’s slow and chill techno, with samples from Debussy and Wagner on top. I know it sounds dumb, but the slow four on the floor beat keeps me going.

Cool, some artists to check out. Thanks.

I listened almost exclusively to Bach while studying for my Health and Safety (NEBOSH) certificate.

I always choose particular music to get me in the mood for a particular focus. For my Weekly review, I usually put on Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy Soundtrack.

I have some great soundtracks or albums to work to

Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, or Wish you were here
The Musical Hamilton
Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy Soundtrack
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ soundtrack to The Social Network (I especially love their take on In the hall of the mountain king)
A-ha’s MTV Unplugged: Summer Solstice
Star Wars, A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, or Return of the Jedi by John Williams
Raider of the Lost Ark but John Williams
The Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack
or the Musical Six.

My go to for music that aids my concentration at work is Albinoni’s oboe concertos. Stunning pieces.

If we’re gathering links, my go to album is Tycho’s Awake (Apple Music). Which usually leads to at least one of his other albums.

Since this is MPU, also worth giving another vote to the Apple Chill Radio station. It really is pretty solid 8 times out of 10 it feels like. And it’s free, no subscription required!

I haven’t listened to those in eons. Thanks for the reminder!

You probably already know this, but Brian McBride from Stars of the Lid has two excellent solo albums to listen to.

No, I didn’t know. Thanks for pointing it out. I’ll check it out!

love Stars of the Lid and Brian McBride both. Often on the sadder side of things but often that works

Apple Music added Apple Music Club last year, and that has become my go-to

Thanks for the reminder. I used to listen to Windham HIll artists.

There are a number of Windham Hill albums in iTunes. Their Holiday Guitar Collection is playing now. A little early in the season for me, but my wife starts Christmas with Hallmark’s Christmas in July. She’s got this infectious laugh and I end up leading from where she has me follow.

It’s a complex arrangement, but it works.
