DIsk Utility Alternative

I have encountered a few situations where Disk Utility freezes when creating a partition and then I wind up with a partition or volume that I cannot remove or in one case an entire drive I cannot erase to restart from scratch.

Can someone suggest a better/alternative solution than Disk Utility in order to format, partition, and repartition a Mac hard drive/

I don’t know that there is one, but if there is, I’d be curious to know what it is,

Most of the time, when “Disk Utility”, the application fails, diskutil, the command-line tool does the job.

But…be careful.

Yea I second the command line. Seems faster than the GUI especially in regards to list or info
