Dock / Hub for TB3 & TB2 MacBooks

I have a workstation in my home office where I sometimes use a 2021 Macbook Pro with a Belkin TB3 dock. Its hooked up to a single 4K Dell Monitor.

Occsicaully I’d like to use my older 2017 Macbook Air (TB2 connector) on that monitor. Usually, i just unplug the display port to the TB3 dock and go DP > TB2 to the Macbook air but i’d rather not fidget with the connections.

I am hoping I could keep the TB3 dock set up and just use a TB3 > TB2 cable but for some reason, i don’t think that is possible.

I know I won’t get power delivery to the older Macbook Air but single its only driving a single monitor I feel like there has to be a better solution,

The Apple Thunderbold 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter is one of the few that goes both ways.

Ah i meant to say my 2017 Macbook air is my TB2 device, I do have that adapter but I think if I plugged my mba into my TS4 dock the computer would freak. I’ll try it tomorrow.
