Drop Dropbox? “Dropbox plans to slash one-fifth of its workforce” WSJ

I use dropbox to sync Devonthink Pro. I wonder if NextCloud would work? @DEVONtech_Jim ?

Try it.

Dropbox has a sophisticated API to allow DEVONthink’s sync with it to “just work”. Maybe NextCloud does? Perhaps you can also pose the question with NextCloud?

I was shocked by this, since going for the M4 Pro MBP is overkill for Scrivener. I am mystified by the “screen shot”:

Since when is Scrivener a page layout program? This screen is faked. (And I just noticed the April 1 date in the upper right corner!)

It could be a web page. Remember, Scrivener can open web pages natively.

I did not see that, I’ll check it out!

the photo they show about Scrivener suggests it is a page layout app, or a best showing a web page in the Reference folder. Oh well.

That is odd; I wonder why they took that approach. :person_shrugging: I’ll not lose any sleep on this matter.

You’re overreacting.

Well, there is a first time for everything.:slightly_smiling_face: Seriously, I think you are correct.

I would say dropping Dropbox in the light of these news is overreacting. But planning for a worst case scenario is always a wise posture.

There’s no specific support for NextCloud but we do have people using WebDAV with it. WebDAV with ownCloud is also possible and something we have used in-house.

The layoff is for cost cutting to save the company. It’s not the beginning of the end.

The company is shut down because of many reasons. There may be signs or there may not be. But compared to the past, tech money should be less fragile.

Think Bending Spoons slashed most of the employees in Evernote.
