I recently switched from a MacBook Pro 2013 to a MacBook Pro 2017 and seem to have lost the ability to connect to two 27-inch Dell monitors via HDMI cables.
Previously, my MacBook Pro 2013 easily connected to the monitors via HDMI to Thunderbolt cables.
Now with the new MacBook Pro 2013 and its Thunderbolt 3 ports, I can’t get the monitors to connect using either Apple’s Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adaptors or Apple’s USBC-C to Digital AV multiport adapters.
Can someone suggest a hack that will work?
I had a similar problem before with a third party adapter. Following these steps was the only way for me to get it to work (fortunately, they are not my main monitors):
- Turn off monitor
- Disconnect HDMI cable from adapter
- Connect Adapter to MacBook
- Turn on monitor and connect HDMI cable to adapter
Hopefully that works.
