E-Mail processing

Hi all, I have a question about e-mail processing. I have my mail in Gmail and use the Gmail MCP from the Anthropic catalogue. Still a bit worried about other MCP’s out there so trying to only use this one so far. Question: Is there a way to let it then sort mail into my other folders/labels? At the moment it can read my mail and prepare drafts in my drafts folder.

I assume the MCP does not support it but wanted to be sure I did not miss anything!

Thanks a lot Florian

I used the MCP from Zapier. It has expanded ability versus the catalogue MCP from Anthropic when it comes to Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar. It’s Zapier, so I had no concerns trusting the MCP. I would use it only for actions that the Anthropic MCP cannot do as there is a limit for the number of “Tasks” that the Zapier will allow on the free plan (100 tasks). Your other option is to let Cowork take control of your browser and access Gmail that way but I think (guess) that will be higher usage against your Claude quota.

Thanks for the explanation. Very smart to let zapier only do the things claude‘s native Gmail MCP cannot do. So split up the work. Will test it.

And zhe broweser one i will also try and see how the usage is.

Thanks a lot Florian

In parallel I tried to have Claude Code write my own MCP server just for changing labels and exporting mail based on AppleScript interacting with Apple Mail. The exporting works fine and I get the .eml file in my Downloads folder or wherewver I need it. But the sorting into folders is still a problem. As Gmail has labels instead of email boxes. And the implementation is a bit unique for Gmail in Apple Mail (an Email is always in All Mail as well as other Inboxes). I am still investigazing this. So this double implementation is a bit tricky for my Apple Script. My idea was to combine the Anthropic Gmail MCP and use mine for sorting and email extraction.

Zapier will be the alternative route I will explore.
