EDC Wallet Dilemma

I do not have a wallet. I have a backpack with lots of pockets including a handy one that has the cards and cash I need. My backpack is my man purse. On the few times that I want to walk around without it, I just put the cards and cash in one front pants pocket and phone in another pocket.

I wear a High-Vis vest when I go out. It has lots of pockets. It makes me less likely to be run over by a car. I am very aware of how hard it can be to see pedestrians when driving a car, particularly those folks who wear dark clothing at night in the rain.

I have a wallet that an iPhone fits in. It is big and bulky. I try and carry as few cards as possible, and use the Apple wallet whenver possible. But I still end up needing to carry lots of cards (Driver’s license, rapid transit card, health card, two credit cards, gym card). I like to carry a Kindle so I can pass the time when I get stuck in some holding pattern somewhere.

I am always reminded if I “forget” my wallet because Car Play does not work. My wallet and phone are always together.

The downside is that I look like a total dork. When I go to stores etc. people often ask me questions about where things are or how things operate. I don’t mind brief engagements with random people. When I walk around areas that are only semi-permissible, I am less likely to be challenged. I believe that I am less likely to be mugged because I look somewhat official.

I am old and need not be cool in any way.

High-Vis vests are commonly really cheap. But for me it is worth a good more expensive one with good velcro pockets and good zipper. My vest is my man purse.

Like many, I use a Ridge wallet. It and my iPhone 17 Pro Max live in my left pants pocket and keys live in my right pants pocket–pretty much to avoid any scratching of the wallet.

That is exactly my routine. Great minds think … :slightly_smiling_face:
