Falling out of love with iPad since MacBook Pro 14" purchase

Quick update, I’ve now changed jobs and have a second 14" MacBook Pro (M3), I’ve now setup my desk so I can use both MacBook Pro’s and my iPad, it’s bit overkill, however universal control is wonderful. No sure fifths will com

MacBook Pro M2 is for personal items
MacBook Pro M3 is plugged into monitor and is my work laptop
iPad Pro M1 is basically a media player and dashboard at this point

When I’m leaving my desk, I’m still most often taking a MacBook Pro rather than my iPad.

My background with iPad is quite deep, I’ve invested heavily over the years and believe in the format. I worked exclusively from iPad for a good 12 months, but just found (as so many have commented) that I needed to find too many work arounds that added friction. To be honest I loved the experiment and finding work arounds, however it just became too heavy for me. True external monitor support was a big step forward as part of stage manager. Also I still find using an iPad to be magical, just something about it, specifically with apps like Things 3.

One further point that I think will influence my future use, I’m ramping up to more travel in 2024, so I have a feeling that on some trips I’ll only take iPad, and others a MacBook Pro 14" & iPad (they are a killer combination for a mobile work setup with universal control).

In summary, I love that we have so many options, I do love all of the hardware and software, and realise this is a very privileged consideration.
