Fountain Pen Recommendation?

Black n’ Red is what I’m using these days, too. I put Leuchtturm bookplates on the front to fancy 'em up.

Lol! The other two fountain pen specialist papers I have are:

  • Franklin Christoph paper which is made from sugar cane
  • Inky Fingers which is made from wheat straw.

Maybe the fountain pen users of the future will be disguising their paper notebooks with hollowed out old macbooks?

Ooh, speaking of bookplates, here’s mine. The image is a drawing done by Cornelius Huyberts, and is of a still life created by Frederick Ruysch (anatomical images there), an anatomist who lived around 1700. I have them printed at Zazzle. I love anatomy and physiology (working on my Ph.D. in Applied Physiology).

@JohnAtl I haven’t heard about bookplates before. You choose a picture to stick inside each notebook?

People usually put them inside books that they want to keep track of. I believe they came about from the old custom of writing a curse in a book so that people would return it. “Bring my book back or your children will be born with pig noses” or something like that.
So I put them in most of my hardback books, and soft paperback textbooks that I lend out.
The caption in mine says, “Ex libris John…”, Latin for from the library of…

I think it’s something born to indicate ownership of the book in a general fashion.

Of course now I want one with that curse in it

Try Levenger Paper Refills

paper pads

It’s not quite Cornell ruled, it doesn’t’ have the summary at the bottom but I get around that by drawing a red line and writing my summary anyway. I always use 2 colors red and blue when taking notes.

You also get or used to get, things which emboss a design on your front page, a kind of stamp thing. I never had one but was tempted. A lot of public and University libraries had them years ago. You will see them sometimes on second hand books still I find.

You can still buy one new, too.

Thanks for the suggestions. 46 cents a page + shipping is a bit steep.
I’ve ordered a Staples version ($0.20/page), and a Tul version (also a steep $0.43/page) to see how they work.

I own a bunch of these. Work every time. Long lasting ink.

Who knew, thanks I might still get one one day.

I have a Sheaffer Viewpoint calligraphy fountain pen. I like this pen because it is the classic stainless steel nib that is low maintenance and very easy to clean. This pen requires less pressure to use and has made my handwriting and invites fancier.

Possibly my favourite of my collection (the competition is a vintage - 1930s - Onoto which is a beautiful writer). These are lovely to write with as well as look at

I have a Narwahl Hippocampus (the purple one) that’s one of my three favorite pens.
As FP go, pretty affordable too.

TWSBI eco and vac. Not particularly eye catching, but they write well and are affordable. They are my work pen - if they get damaged, I would be sad but not heartbroken.
