Frustrating iCloud outage

I am not saying this is what happened or is happening but there are media reports without details (not prominent but saw in WSJ) of some sort of widespread hack or denial of service. we will never know.

Error-handling is underrated wherever you look. Not even support agents seem to understand when I try to explain that I understand the outages just happen from time to time but that what I’m asking for is that the resulting errors are handled so that it is immediately evident that this is an outage so that I can move on and try to work around the situation instead of trying to figure out what’s going on.

Not saying iCloud is not a problem (it is), but the overarching issue (not specific to Apple) I see here is insufficient error-handling.
