Getting back brightness control on Apple Keyboard with Dell monitor

I’ve now paired my 2018 Mac mini with a Dell U2718Q. I noticed that I’ve lost the ability to use my brightness (F1 and F2) keys to control brightness. What solutions exist for me to get that functionality back?

Check if you enabled the F key function.

Thank you Rogier. Good feedback and it is indeed unchecked/disabled which allows the built-in Mac features or as standard function keys to be active. Something else is disabling that feature when connected to a Dell monitor. What other ideas do you have?

PS The https://www.willems.tech in your profile leads to a failed to open page. I did find you live here though https://sites.google.com/mac-expert.biz/willems-tech

Ah thanks for letting me know about the dead ulr forward. It only existed for my ACN membership that I stopped this month.

Hey @nplanchon,

I was pissed off by the same problem for a while and after reading your post, I found out about this little donationware called Lunar (https://lifehacker.com/control-your-external-displays-settings-from-your-macbo-1827981352).

It just made my day and I hope it can help you too.

Hello Lucas! Great to hear from you and thanks for the tip for lunar. They’ve move to https://lunar.fyi. I’ll give it a try tomorrow. Greetings from SF Bay Area (California).
