Help infrequent upgrader decide between 2020/2021 M1 MBP or MBA

Does the future buyout price factor in that you paid a large chunk up front? I.e. if you go option 4 do you risk having to pay twice for the upgrades?

I’m of the opinion that anybody who needs both 16GB RAM and 512GB+ SSD is already at a minimum price of $1,400 USD MSRP regardless of which chasis they get that in. Therefore, the upgrade pricing to the 14" is $600, rather than the $1,000 that I saw somebody mention earlier in the thread.

Is that worth it for a better GPU, better multithread CPU, more USB ports, HDMI port, more screen real estate, and heavier weight? In many cases I’d say no, probably not, unless you know that one of those stands out to you as being worth paying for.

Brad, I don’t know if this could fit in with your financing plans but Amazon has $150! off of the latest MacBook Air for $1099 in "all three styles”. Evidently it is for 512 GB which would likely be less space than you need May need. I read it in Apple’s news and immediately thought of you,

Evidently it has 8 GB of RAM but you might want to check out what they do have.

I paid more than that for the exact same computer only mine is 2020.

Actually I just went and checked Amazon. I don't know what year they are but there are some MBA M1's with half of a T and 16 GB that seemed reasonably priced.
