What is difficult about right clicking on a trackpad or mouse?
1.The cursor might be far away from where you are working.
2.You will have to take the right hand away from the keyboard which creates unnecessary friction and mental load.
This is an obvious flaw. The computer should be controllable by the keyboard.
The older app PathFinder, a Finder alternative, had a feature to create a .txt
file in the current folder. PathFinder is a bit long in the tooth and looks clunky, otherwise. It’s available on Setapp, but the app owner’s website (Cocoatech.io) looks like it is dead.

While I stopped using Pathfinder years ago, it seems I an still on their mailing list, as I received an email earlier this month from Cocoatech about upgrading.
I stopped because Finder windows would open empty, the contents of the folder not shown. Not what one wants from a Finder replacement. Support was not helpful.
I did like it when it worked though.
Thank you all for your constructive suggestions. I would like to compile a list of the helpful apps that each of you shared below. This way, it can be easily accessed by anyone who may need them in the future
