How effective is the iCloud Internet Relay for my Privacy?

Of course, since 1Blocker is not a VPN.

Is it (close) to your real location instead of Null island in both cases?

This method would require the ability to monitor every single Tor exit node on the planet, so I suspect only a few nation states have the ability to do this and likely only for targeted investigations.

True. As I recall it was a US three letter agency (FBI/CIA/NSA) that was involved so they would have the resources. All the exit nodes are mapped and can be downloaded as a CSV from the TOR Project.

Says my city, on the MAC little snitch says null island

Oof, I’m not sure which ones I stopped using. Looking back at VPNs I’ve downloaded from the App Store on my iPad, I see NordVPN came up. I think Naomi Blackwell (NBTV on YouTube) pointed this one out as a data seller. So NordVPN was out.

I have used TunnelBear in the past, which is nice and simple, but I don’t know if they sell data to brokers or not.

One thing seems to be certain: if the VPN service is free, you know they have to be selling the data. But even some VPNs that charge for the service sell data to brokers. Doing research is a good idea, but it’s hard to assume that the reviewers and researchers are accurate. And there’s nothing to prevent a VPN from changing its terms of service to allow them to start selling data.

While this site doesn’t make any VPN recommendations, the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s page on VPNs is worthwhile. Choosing the VPN That's Right for You | Surveillance Self-Defense [Choosing the VPN That's Right for You | Surveillance Self-Defense]
