HP printer problems

Hi everyone,
we have an old HP printer (LaserJet 700 MFP m775) at the warehouse and when my shift leader tries to print something he gets this screen. He uses a MacBook Air mid-2020.

Translation: hpPreProsessing.filter is damaging for the computer.
File was downloaded on unknown date
✓ Report malware to Apple to protect other users.

Anybody know what to make of this? Can that really be malware? Why does it come up when he tries to print?

This caused a temporary disruption for those customers and we are working with Apple to restore the drivers. Probably the same issue as discussed here. I reinstalled my ancient HP2020cp using the “Generic PostScript Printer” option and have not had an issue since. [Screenshot of AddPrinter (11-10-20, 5-56-39 AM)]

No problem. The HP issue was an avoidable annoyance, on HP’s part, with a weird dire appearance. Luckily, it’s a simple fix.
