If I remember correctly, the founder of iA Oliver studied philosophy. That’s why he has this app to streamline the thoughts of speakers and visual slides because the speaker may need to deliver his systems/structure of ideas. Writing a presentation is so essential.
If you are from something like engineering, architecture, design, I think Keynote may be more suitable. The slides themselves tell their stories and can leave imagination for the audiences.
I stand corrected. It looks like one can purchase a license for iOS devices and another license for the Mac. That’s still relatively expensive in my view but certainly is different than my initial understanding. Thanks for correcting me. I do not want to misrepresent the developer.
That’s good or bad depending on your mix of devices. The combined iOS/iPadOS version of iA Writer (like the Mac version) is currently $50 USD. It’s not bad if you have an iPhone and an iPad, but it’s a lot to pay for a simple markdown editor if you only have an iPhone.
Meanwhile, the Windows and Android versions only cost $30, and the Windows version has a better feature set than the Mac version.
It was the good old days with limited discount and even free!
The app developers are always seeking ways to become sustainable. I remember VSCO which at first asked you to pay for the filters and then subscription: not enough: increase the price of the subscription, add one more tier for subscription. Endless options of payment but quality — still buggy!
