I’ve recently experienced problems with copy and paste. I will often have to copy text or other things twice before it actually makes it on the clipboard. I remember reading about this issue when iOS 12 first came out, but it looks like it has reappeared.
This has happened a few times to me recently, but not all the time.
Are you using a clipboard manager like Copied? I’ve had this problem for a while now and wondered if it might be related to something like that.
I’ve had the same issue on my XS recently. Not using Copied. The “paste” option doesn’t appear when I try to paste it into a field. Seems to happen most with Messages.
