iOS 27 and Auto-correct

Is it just me or has the auto-correct gotten much worse in iOS 27? I thought maybe my settings had changed as part of the upgrade from 26, but everything is exactly the same.

I don’t know what this says about me, but I type thousands of words a day on my iPhone 16’s virtual keyboard. It’s the device from which I journal, draft emails, and, yes, reply to posts on MPU Talk. I’m convinced something has changed. I’ve been thumb typing on iPhones since the 3G and my accuracy has never been this bad.

If anyone has any tips I may want to try, I’m all ears.

I’ve been using it since the first public beta. I can’t remember this being a problem.

Johanna Stern did a video about iOS16 bugs with autocorrect and changes to autocorrect in ios27. Your situation seems to be the opposite, but maybe it’s worth resetting your autocorrect dictionary - I think the following video tells you how.

I’ve had autocorrect essentially stop working once or twice on 27. Restarting fixed it. Generally, finding the current state of typing to be good as far as hitting the keys and fixing typos, but word suggestion could better use the context from the last few words.

This seems to be the problem I’m having. I’ll restart—I haven’t done that since I installed iOS 27—and clear the auto-correct dictionary.

Thank you all for your help and the space to vent :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t have any issues with the autocorrect itself. If anything it has gotten a lot better remembering phrases or acronyms I declared to be correct after being flagged as error.

My main beef is that sometimes words disappear while it’s trying to put the squiggly blue line underneath it. After a couple of seconds the words (and their underlines) re-appear. Very annoying.
