iOS 'headphones' Bluetooth menu bar icon issue

I have this persistent issue where, after I disconnect some Bluetooth headphones, my iOS menu bar will not remove the ‘headphones connected’ icon. This leaves me to wonder or worry where my audio is routed (especially irritating if I am expecting calls or notifications). You can see that nothing is in fact attached except for my Forerunner 245, which is a Garmin watch without headphone capacity.

Is this a common thing? Bug? User error?

Thanks!

I think it’s simply that iOS detects, rightly or wrongly, the Forerunner 245 (which I’m not familiar with) as an audio device. Perhaps ask the Forerunner support people?

I thought about that, but if I kill the bluetooth, reactivate it, and the phone re-connects to the Forerunner, there is no headphone icon. (Which is my fix, I suppose – but still annoying, and I’d like it be more reliable that if I disconnect headphones, I see no icon).

Thanks!

I suspect it’s one of those things that both Apple and Forerunner will put the bottom of their list to fix (if there is a fix).

And in the meantime, each will blame the other.
