iPad pro has gone backwards

Apparently slideover is coming back …

Yes, it’s back in the beta. It’s not available in single window mode but works (-ish) in multi-window mode. Consistent with Liquid Glass, it’s very inefficient with space.

That’s a big deal based on all the comments I’ve read from folks complaining about it.

Yes. As implemented, it’s better than nothing.

It continues my overall critique of iPadOS that’s it’s too “fussy.” Swipes from or to any direction (even tiny, inadvertent ones) make something happen that you then have to discover how to undo. Since slide over isn’t available in single app mode, more of those unwanted features and touch targets have to be activated to use my iPad the way I want to (and had for years until now).

Good summary of the overall experience. The previous split view was easy to use without any fuss as was slide over.

This looks great, looking forward to giving it a try. The one time I miss slide over is when I’m watching a video and taking notes. I like to have the video full screen and would use slide over to bring in the Notes app to take some notes and then slide it out of the way.

I disagree. I never got along with either. Perhaps it’s easy if you spend the time to get the muscle memory. Probably I could have managed Split View reasonably simply, but slideover regularly confused me. So I didn’t use it. So I didn’t get used to it. And so on.

The new multitasking is likely to be more usable if only because I keep ending up with windows unintentionally, so I am slowly learning what does that and how to make it go away. Out of necessity.

A lot of sites still ask for a 2FA number, even when using Passcodes, and I liked keeping 1PW in slideover.
