Where did you hear that Apple help fund the war in Ukraine? If this is true, I would indeed not buy their things but I don’t believe this at all. I’ve never seen them make statements like Kagi, whose CEO stated that they will willingly pay Russian government backed companies (as they don’t care about geopolitics), prioritizing business over ethics. If Apple ever said something like this it would be everywhere.
I’m allowed to decide what I want to spend my money on. I choose not to use products that rely on Russian services if I can. I also find RT to be especially bad since it is a site used by Russian intelligence services to spread disinformation.
I’m kind of sorry I brought this up, since it’s turning into a political discussion and I don’t think the forum guidelines allow that?
I’m thankful that you brought it up.
Absolutely and everyone is free to make that choice ![]()
I have not said you aren’t free or shouldn’t make that choice.
I was merely trying to point out that certain countries that Apple and most of the other manufacturers use to build their products and pay taxes in are very much bank rolling the russian war effort (amongst other moral and ethical issues) so to be quite as vociferous in the rejection struck me as odd.
Living in a country with a long border with Russia makes this an important issue for me. I think one does what one can. Sure it’s not possible to be perfect but one tries.
Companies can directly control who they do business with. And that is the difference.
Gives me shivers that you feel like you can’t name names.
