Latest OS version

Because I use some mail extensions (MailSuite) that Apple slammed the door on after macOS Ventura I’ve been running that version on my intel iMac. Now there’s a new mail client (MailMaven) that does everything I need, I’m wondering if I should upgrade the OS to Sequoia, and whether that’s even possible. The App Store says Sequoia is compatible with my computer, but various Apple supports sites say it’s not.

Help!

Maybe these will help:

As there are a number of different Intel iMacs in order to help we’d ned to know the specific model.

Thanks to all. It’s a 2017 21.5” 4K with Intel 3.4GHz core i5, 16Gb RAM and 512Gb SSD.

Looking at the pages referenced Ventura is the latest OS supported, but it seems strange that the App Store indicates that Sequoia “works on this iMac”.

I don’t see anywhere in the Apple App Store that Sequoia is offered. Please provide the URL to what you see.

Here’s the link ‎macOS Sequoia on the Mac App Store

And here a screen shot showing compatibility.

I’m loath to download 12+ Gb and then muck my machine up trying to install something that doesn’t work! Could it be that it will run, but not well? Or that some features won’t work?

Yea, I see it now. Title “MacOS Sequoia”, not simply “Sequoia”. And yes, i thought incompatible with my 2017 27" iMac, but it says “Works on this Mac”. Selecting the “pulldown” on that compatibility option says “Requires macOS 10.13 or later”.

I’m not concerned about downloading 12.1 gb, but am wondering if it will brick my machine if I attempt to install.

I pressed the “Get” button, and the machine opened up the “Software Update” in Settings, started checking for updated versions, then told me this update not available.

So I conclude the App Store isn’t really checking, but Software Update is.

You were braver than me! Guess I’ll be sticking with Ventura, or maybe the one in between.

I have 13.7.6 and that seems to be latest (so far).

I was confident that the “get” step would not install. Else the button would have said “install”. I would for sure prompt to ask permission and admin ID. So I wasn’t brave at all!
