I was intrigued to read that you can now access a Mac Mini on demand via Amazon AWS:
However the price seems extremely high compared with various alternatives. So I am not sure what the use case is for this.

It’s not a case for casual users or even most business users. For a moderate to large-scale development shop, with regular and persistent demand for compute time for compilation in the Mac environment, even a small improvement in up-time versus the alternative environments can justify the cost. AWS is very adept at understanding the economic tradeoffs that business customers make and pricing their products in a way that is attractive for them.
