Need recommendations for modestly priced no-subscription YouTube Downloader

I occasionally want to use a short video clip in my presentations. So I’m looking for a modestly priced, no-subscription YouTube downloader app. It would be nice to be able to use the app to convert/export in a few different formats.

Any recommendations?

youtube-dl is one of my favorite tools, and offers a ton of options.

It had issues a year ago, so I went with the fork yt-dlp, which I like even more!

For a GUI option, how about Downie, currently on sale for 10$ here?

Yes, Downie is fantastic. Very flexible in terms of how it downloads (e.g. 1080 HD vs. 720 and lots of other options). If you need additional help (e.g. with adding closed captions) there is the companion app named Permute:

“Permute is a powerful media conversion utility. It allows you to quickly convert video,
audio and images into various formats. Downie can integrate with Permute, allowing you
to specify into which format to convert the downloaded file.”
