I’m sure the hearing aid people will be up in arms about this.
I’m not sure how apple is getting around not having to declare them a medical device.
There are already non-medical device amplifiers for folks who are hard of hearing. My grandparents had them (refused to get real hearing aids). Basically a pair of earbuds connected to an iPod mini sized box with batteries and a microphone.
