I agree with this. I have the 8 gb and 256. I bump into the 8 gb every now. I only have 35 gb free of the 256.
Probably they’ll come a bit later than “holiday season” … I do think something between March and May. At least for the Mini or the iMac series.

Yes, 2022 seems to be done.
From Tim Cook himself, last week:
“As we approach the holiday season, with our product lineup set, I’d like to share my gratitude to our retail AppleCare and channel teams for the work they are doing to support customers.”
Which led Marc Gurman to change his mind:
So, 2023 it is. 
Note to myself travelling back in time to 2020: do not wait for the second generation Apple silicon Mac Mini because it could become a long wait.
