I would expect them not to change the charging port but to eliminate it altogether and go wireless charging.

I would like something more ergonomic perhaps. And depending on size if you can give me a couple buttons that could be nice.

Apple hates buttons. One button seems to be the limit and I expect they are very pleased with the latest zero button designs.

Except on the iPhone. My new one came with an additional button whose primary function was to open the camera every time I touched the phone. That was quickly disabled.
I’m sure you are right but the question was what specific things I’d like added.
