Thank you. All good. The term “ghosted” was what made me ask.
Thank you both. Maybe the mods can pull some strings and get a category created for devs promoting their apps. Then if people don’t want to see them, they can block them.
No I didn’t mean that. Just that she seemed to engage heavily in it for a period and then disappeared without much trace.
Well done @MacSparky for sorting this out and @LisaSpangenberg and @cornchip for taking this on.
For the rest of us we now need to post some dodgy content to see how good they are ![]()
@cornchip and @LisaSpangenberg, I’d keep a special eye on @svsmailus. He is a suspicious character! ![]()
I was curious about Rosemary too. Did she move on to other things like Katie?
Funny how her Bio page on Twit lists all of the things she no longer does!
Of all the forum’s I am in, this is the one where I never thought we needed moderators. It seemed pretty respectful and people generally don’t bite. But I am new, and there’s probably MPU Talk Forum lore I am missing out on.
That’s generally true. Maybe it’s the few times we do wish we had some it really sticks out.
Not surprised. TWIT is not what it used to be now that there are 1000’s of tech podcasts. They probably don’t have anybody updating their website.
This forum is more like a relatively-well-behaved party that just needs an occasional reminder to keep it down. ![]()
That’s a great way to describe it.
Yes, we did jump on a dev too quickly (and I was part of that
). And on (thankfully pretty rare) occasions a discussion veers a bit too far into politics and someone gets a little hot under the collar.
But those are the exceptions, not the rule, and most of the time this forum is one of the most civil, fun, interesting places on the internet. IMO, anyway. ![]()
I think you have done pretty good. Things change and time is tight. I have noticed though I have no idea what the reason is that I spend a lot less time on fora and comments sections over the last year or so. I am sure that though I am not aware of why that is, there is a reason in the way ‘things are’ so to speak.
Fact is I am on Mac really for DEVONthink really, maybe Keyboard Maestro. Though were it not for those I would probably stick to Mac even at current price points since I can really afford it. But I find over the last couple of years I have hardly any friction points with IT for what I do and think about it less.
It is absolutely impossible to run any kind of forum or comments sections without moderation now it seems to me Just can’t be done. I used to go on a few, those which have no or low moderation even I don’t bother with. Several medical type ones, or sciency ones even mostly had to enforce tight moderation over the last couple of years to make them usable at all. Or just drop comments which in my view is often the best option.
It wasn’t a conscious decision either I just them less and less appealing I suppose and with nothing much of interest on them. What do they say ‘echo chambers’.
I imagine a well meaning downstairs neighbor banging their broomhandle on their apartment ceiling because we’re making a bit to much ruckus!
