Once-dominant Apple Podcasts loses ground to 2 big competitors

You replied to me but I think your comment was intended for @iPersuade but I appreciate the information nonetheless. :slightly_smiling_face:

It was actually intended for both, but I felt weird quoting both of you so I figured I would suck you both in by replying to you and quoting him.

PocketCasts for me but also running Castro to support the new devs.

Anecdotally, it seems like most people around my age I know (I’m 26) just use Spotify for podcasts. A gaming podcast I really enjoy called Into the Aether recently released a 15 hour long podcast episode, and Spotify couldn’t handle the length even though Apple Podcasts, PocketCasts, and Overcast all didn’t have issues. Funny they spend so many millions getting exclusive podcasts but can’t even handle basic edge cases like long podcasts.

Incidentally, I refuse to call anything on YouTube a ā€œpodcast.ā€ If I need to be sitting in front of a video screen of some sort to watch it, that’s not a ā€œpodcastā€ in my book.

15 hours is way beyond normal, I’m not surprised something choked.

If I remember correctly, @ismh86 had problems uploading last year’s podcastathon to YouTube because it was longer than 8 hours.

Pocket Casts. The interface jives with how I organize things.

Also, I know it’s a small thing, but the Play/Pause animation is just great.
