I do the same, but with Obsidian. Itās a great feature that on any Markdown file I can use a hotkey to instantly launch the default editor, in my case Typora.
That said, Iāve CSS and the focus mode plugin active on Obsidian which provides a nice writing environment.

To get back to the topic a little. I am curious to where, or in what respect IA falls short in your writing @Bmosbacker.
One of the areas was recently addressed with the latest release of iA Writerālibrary organization. There are two other things that produce friction for me: 1) the markdown is too prominent, especially when adding footnotes and images, and 2) for long articles an outline that is always visible. I have a workaround but Iād prefer a solution like Ulyssesā outline view or Scrivenerās binder.
I use AI Writer all the time as my editor for Devonthink. The combination of DT+IA is all I use for short form writing, and Iām really happy with the workflow. I also have BBEdit for complex text wrangling, and Scrivener for long form.
