Questions I have after the September 2024 Apple event

A $400 device on your wrist and a $400+ iPhone to pair it to. Most people in the world don’t own iPhones so it follows the sleep apnea, etc. features of the AW won’t help most of those undiagnosed people.

@Clarke_Ching - Please share your evaluation of using AirPods Pro as a substitute for your hearing aids after you gain some experience.

In a recent episode of the Mac Geek Gab podcast
…(link to youtube version: Mac Geek Gab 1054) …
Adam Christianson shared his suboptimal experience with expensive hearing aids. He did not like the sound quality, and was interested in trying the new AirPods functionality in lieu of the hearing aids. Adam’s comments start at the 42:50 time mark. (Note - this time may vary, depending on changes due to dynamic ad insertion).

That’s a fair point, but I would think it would help everybody who actually owned an Apple Watch because the odds of owning a watch without owning a phone are relatively minimal… Correct?

Pretty much zero unless someone wins one in a contest or gets one as a gift, since an Apple Watch has to be paired to an iPhone.

Unless you set it up to operate in isolation under Family sharing (if I remember the feature correctly)

Did you have an idea you had sleep apnea at any time during those 10 years?

I did not except with the benefit of hindsight. I thought being tired during the day was normal. I had stopped snoring at night when I lost weight but apparently still had been. And my wife noticed I would stop breathing from time to time and mentioned it when my doctor brought up me being tired.

And of course the idea is that if he had an Apple Watch and fallen asleep during that time, it would’ve picked it up.

Aaaaand that was the whole point of my post. Glad we can agree. :+1:
I also said …

I was “diagnosed” by my wife too! See? No apple watch needed, we have wives!

You are right. We agree with only one part of your post that it may not make sense if it’s the sole reason to buy the watch. Congrats!

When did this forum become quite so full of non-sequiturs, bad faith arguments, and needless semantics?

Reading this thread is awful. I basically regret logging in every time I get the urge to come back here.

I might upgrade from my Series 4 just for that feature and additional battery life as an added bonus.

Sounds like something that Q would hand to James Bond at the start of his next mission. But where I disagree with you is that it DOES have to look good … for when James removes his scuba gear and wetsuit to reveal a tuxedo underneath! :sunglasses:

Which despite being under a wetsuit, is never wrinkled. :slightly_smiling_face:

I had the same initial concern but I’m over it (I have the Ultra 2). No one cares.

Yesterday I met with a prominent trial attorney (no, I’m not in trouble :slightly_smiling_face:). He was sporting the Ultra with the white ocean band. I would not wear the Ultra with a tuxedo, but for general business and business casual, it is acceptable. Tastes and standards on dress have changed. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse, but this is were we have landed.

I’d were the Ultra with a tux, but I’m a rebel. (I’d at least use a leather band, though. I’m not a monster.)
