I’m using Reeder for RSS feeds and I read articles via Apple News+. Sometimes I want to save a WSJ article I find within Apple News+ to read later. The apps I have tried (Matter, Readwise Reader) are requiring a WSJ login (not Apple News+).
Any read later apps out there that can let me read WSJ articles that are surfaced in Apple News+ without requiring a WSJ login credentials?
I’m validating a very small iPhone/Safari-first workflow for this exact “stash/read later” problem, not trying to replace full read-it-later apps: when you share a page, it asks “why am I saving this?”, you close the tab, then it resurfaces later so you act/keep/delete. Does the “why” prompt sound helpful or would it add friction compared with instant save?
I like the idea but I think I might want more specific/personal questions. Either oriented towards priming for reading or for deleting.
- What are you hoping to learn from this?
- Is there a book about this you’ve meant to read?
- Will this be relevant by Saturday?
This has been a really interesting thread, and provocative. I have an opportunity to reset everything this summer, so I’m very interested in how others manage their reading.
I use Goodlinks to stash URLs for writing about them and bookmarks in Safari for items I expect to need later.
I rarely read things “later”: at most I might keep a tab open for 24 hours. I do star or mark Unread items in NetNewsWire that I want to read more carefully, bit it’s a temporary measure.
Y’all have given me a lot to think about. Thank you!

Instapaper just released their v10, which adde some Liqui Glass design on iOS, improved web UI and some more.
It goes a bit slow(?), but nice to see them continue to improve one of the o.g. readers
Anyone tempted to switch?
