I once used Paperless, from Mariner Software, which is kinda sorta designed for receipts, but it uses its own database for the scans, and I am still trying to figure out what it did to my PDFs. I also use Yep, from Ironic Software, which allows for categories such as receipts… FWIW
I used both Paperless and Yep for a long time. Have since moved to Hazel and DevonThink which gives me much more flexibility and access.
I agreed, I am using the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 which has the function to scan receipts to a designated folder, then use the combination of Hazel and DT3 to import them
