Scanner Recommendation for 2025

The iX 1500 does photos well? Looks like the iX 1600 goes to 600 dpi, which might be good enough for photos. I’ve been scanning them at 1200.

What happened to Fujitsu? The scanner now put out by Ricoh. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve used ScanSnap IX500 since 2013. I’ve scanned 6 drawers of 4" x 6" illustration files and 7 drawers of file cabinets, in addition to frequent use for records and daily use. I’m happy.

Ricoh bought Fujitsu’s ScanSnap product line (and others in the PFU Limited scanner division) in 2022, and rebranded them starting in 2023.

Another vote for the ScanSnap ix1600. I have ScanSnap Home configured with profiles (both simplex and duplex) that deliver scans directly to DevonThink. You can have as many profiles as you like, each with their own settings, and select them on the ix1600 screen prior to scanning. I also have additonal profiles that scan both simplex and duplex into the ScanSnap directory if I don’t need the scan in DevonThink. All works great with my M4 Mac Mini.
