Need to share a bunch of files with my girlfriend. We’re on the same family iCloud plan.
Is the fastest / easiest way to do this probably just sharing a folder from my Mac with her? Or is there a better way?
on the mac, did you mean icloud drive folder?
cause with the family plan that would work.
sharing a folder on the mac outside icloud drive would still mean she’d have to be on the same network or vpn in.
Yeah, that’s what I mean. Sorry about the lack of clarity. 
We’re using Syncthing and it seem to work well. My partner uses Linux, so no shared iCloud.
I know this is an older topic, just contributing for future reference!

I have a folder in iCloud drive with my wife’s name. I’ve added it as a favorite in Files on iOS and in the sidebar in Finder. I put anything I want to share with her in that folder. We’ve been doing this for years and it works well. She can even view the files on her Windows laptop buy logging into icloud.com
I share folders and large files all the time with my wife using iCloud and I’ve never had an issue
