Silo - the next Lost?

Is Silo giving anyone else Lost vibes? I worry it’s going to get too lost in its own story like Lost did and just keeping giving us questions with no answers.

Good news, based on books, so less likely to just go weird…

Not only based on books, but unlike some other series (cough, Game of Thrones, cough) it’s based on a series that already has an ending in print.

This show is on my list to watch (haven’t seen any yet), but we read the books years ago and fell in love with them. If it’s anything like the books, it’s gonna be great!

We’re watching it and so far we like it a lot.

I may be in the minority here, but I’d say read the book instead. I find the show has missed what made the book so exciting and interesting.

Thanks for the tip! I often like books better.

I agree. The show is fine but there are things they changed that I feel like make the overall experience and story worse. But I tend to think that about every book to tv adaptation. So take that with a grain of salt.

Fun note. I was reading an interview with an author (can’t remember which one offhand) about a book-to-film adaptation, and some fan complaints that scenes weren’t the same as they were in the book.

The author noted that they’d actually tried to do a particular scene exactly the way the book described it, but it just wasn’t possible given things like the laws of physics. Apparently it’s possible to write things that can’t be acted.

Yea I try to be considerate of that for sure. But in Silo’s case it isn’t law of physics constraints but more “lore” changes that don’t make as much sense to me unless they’re changing the overarching story. :man_shrugging:t2:

I recently read that the second season has been approved. Also, the first season only deals with roughly the first half of the 1st book, Wool.
I loved the books and are thrilled to be even given the chance to see this on the screen.
There is also a graphic novel of the 1st book that was awesome. Again, an opportunity to see the images makes for more fun.

I’ve read the graphic novel and didn’t know there was a book. I had a deja vu with the final scene on the first episode and I couldn’t pinpoint why I knew what’s happening. I had to sift through thousands of comic covers on comixology to find it. I know, I know, I can just google it. It gives a different sense of accomplishment finding it on my own :joy:

Haven’t watched Silo yet, but Severance gave me (and several critics, from what I remember reading) serious Lost vibes. Unlike Silo, Severance is not based on a book, and I don’t have high faith in Ben Stiller and his team to know how to navigate the show as such (but I sure do hope they know what they’re doing).

Since people here are talking about a TV+ show, I hope you’d give Drops of God a chance. No Lost vibe, but its a limited series with a good ending and sometimes funny premise. I imagine how the manga where the series is based from would have looked like.
