I loaded the Cog app on the old Mac mini connected to my house stereo and am excited so far. This may be the app I’ve been looking for to avoid the Apple Music app, which I’ve only ever used locally, no subscription!
My music plays nice with Cog on the Mac mini that is still running macOS Monterey. Cog seems more integrated with Finder rather than with Apple’s or its own database. Playback and sound is good. “Acoustic” is a nice preset on its Equalizer. It needed full disk access to let me select subfolders. I first loaded everything, I think. But I cleared it and now can load subfolders. And they seem to be cumulative. I like the implications for exploring my music collection if this is true. It is a pretty cool app.
