I wish there was a way to customize the wakeup command for Siri. My wife and I each have iPhones, iPads and now a HomePod. Every time we issue the “Hey lady” command to send a request to the HomePod, every device within hearing responds. Is there a way to create a custom wake command e.g. “Hey HomePod” to get things going? That way only the one device would respond.
If wishes were fishes…
I turned off all devices except for my HomePods for listening for Hey_Siri. If I’m at home my HomePods are usually within listening distance, and I usually have my iPhone on me, so squeezing the side button (or tap-holding the button on my PowerBeats Pro) isn’t onerous.
I did the same thing. The only time it’s a problem is when I’m in the car and want to try to trigger Siri. I wish there was a way to tell Siri not to listen for the trigger word when I’m on my home Wi-Fi network, but I don’t think Shortcuts can do that.
Once you get CarPlay, there is a Siri button on the screen.
I had hoped to see the addition of the ability to change the wake-up command for Siri in iOS 14. Right now, I am looking at an iMac, an iPad, and an iPhone. It would be great to be able to say “Hey, iPad” or “Hey, iPhone” or "Hey, iMac or “Hey, Dummy” or anything else and only wake up the designated device. It would seem to be a relatively trivial matter to do this in Settings.
That seems like one of those features that’s so obvious, I can’t understand why it doesn’t exist yet, and when Apple adds it in 5 years, we’ll all go “Finally!”
Especially because there are some things that some devices can’t do, and some that I want done by a specific device.
Simple!
