Your email provider by definition is cloud-based since we all use IMAP.

Not all, Luddite here who is still on all POP emails except my gmail account.

This. I’ve been thinking lately to whether continue my fastmail subscription, or switch to google workspace (with the same USD50/yr pricing).
Before I switched to fastmail, I’ve never experienced emails that fail to be sent. I also know there’s a big chance that google will be one of the last survivors of the internet —thus bigger chance my data (and shared data ) will still be in the cloud until the end of the internet.

Although with Gmail I have experienced a ton of emails that bounce back after they were sent because Google’s sending servers semi-routinely get blacklisted.
