Am I the only one that thinks this is a horrendous looking truck?
I realize that this is only tangentially related to MPU, but it deals with both high-end technology in the automotive industry and design, so I thought it may fit.

my fingers are getting cut just looking at those pictures.
it’s so so so so bad
No match for the Tacoma!
The new Tacoma looks really nice.
I have a Tundra and love it, except when I have to park downtown.
I have no intention of questioning you. But THIS terminator thinks the right term is hideous.
IMHO, all trucks are hideous monstrosities that are rarely needed. Kei trucks and side by side vehicles are fine for many farms here in NZ, and vans are better for tradies. Regular people don’t need trucks. Seems to me like it’s mostly tax incentives that lead to us even discussing the look of one truck vs another.
All I can say is that I am a white-collar worker, but I make frequent use of my pickup. I would not want to be without one. It is just too practical to give up. As to the tax breaks, I don’t know what you are referring to. I received no tax break when I purchased the truck. In fact, given the cost for the truck, it actually cost me more in taxes than if I bought a smaller vehicle.
The most important unanswered questions are, of course, “is it subscription?” and “does it work with markdown?”
Is it hideous?
Yes.
It’s worse than that, it’s “electron.”
I like diversity of vehicle design but this doesn’t do it for me. If we see a million on the road in a couple years, it’s going to be a repeat of the Hummer H2 trend twenty years ago. Those were annoying.
Coincidentally, yesterday I sent a long newsletter out to my subscribers describing how I was selling my 20 year old ute - (NZ for utility vehicle or farm truck).
The link is down below - it wasn’t really about selling my ute, it was about finding something odd or quirky about yourself and using it for your advantage. Can you see the odd thing about my ute?
Clarke’s newsletter about selling his 20 year old truck/ute.
The GMC pick up truck is nice looking; I just wish they still made them in Toyota Hilux size, like they still do in the Middle East.
I also wish they were reliable. Unfortunately, GM products are not known for high levels of reliability, though there are exceptions. This is one reason why I always buy Toyotas and Acuras. The BMW I once foolishly purchased, was a fantastic drive, but not a reliable vehicle with way over priced maintenance.
I keep looking at that first image: Is it a photo of a truck, or a CGI rendering of a truck?
Because if it’s a photo, we have finally come full circle, with reality falling into the uncanny valley – reality imitating art imitating reality, only unconvincingly
This is what I would drive if I hated myself.
Politely disagree as the local Home Depot near my house will attest.
