Anyone know why Mac’s TextEdit has so many default tab stops in Rich Text? Pages, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Wordpad don’t.
Pages and Word have default tab stops every half inch, just like TextEdit. For reasons beyond my ken, the default tab stops don’t appear in their rulers, but they’re there.

Actually I think this is inherited behavior from waaay long ago: If you don’t set any tab stops, you get the default, which is every half inch. If you set just one tab stop, you get just that one and none of the defaults. Sad to say, I usually use the defaults.
